Finalists Announced for the 20 th Tiffany & Co . Designer Award

The Melbourne Fashion Festival Ltd. (MFF), the not-for-profit organisation that owns and delivers the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival, today announced the finalists for Australia’s most esteemed and highly regarded award for emerging talent in fashion design, the Tiffany & Co. National Designer Award Supported by Harper’s BAZAAR.

The five finalists for the 2016 Tiffany & Co. National Designer Award Supported by Harper’s BAZAAR are Celeste Tesoriero (NSW), Hokum (VIC), KACEY/DEVLIN (NSW), Kloke (VIC) and macgraw (NSW).

Celebrating 20 years of design excellence, the Tiffany & Co. National Designer Award Supported by Harper’s BAZAAR, is proud of its alumni that includes STRATEAS.CARLUCCI, Dion Lee, Romance Was Born, Yeojin Bae and Toni Maticevski, brands that continue to experience industry success globally.

Graeme Lewsey, CEO of the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival will lead the respected judging panel of industry leaders and Award stakeholders; Glen Schlehuber Vice President & Managing Director Tiffany & Co.; 2015 winners Amanda Cumming and Kate Reynolds of PAGEANT; Kellie Hush, Editor-in-Chief, Harper’s BAZAAR and Donna Player, Director of Merchandise, David Jones.

From an increasingly competitive field of entrants, these five finalists have been selected and invited to present at an exclusive, intimate showcase on Wednesday 9 March 2016 at Tiffany & Co. Collins St, Melbourne, where the winner of the 2016 Tiffany & Co. National Designer Award Supported by Harper’s BAZAAR is announced.

The total prize is expected to be worth in excess of AUD $100,000, and currently includes:

A bespoke Tiffany & Co. keepsake engraved trophy
An opportunity to meet the design team at Tiffany & Co. in New York City
Return flights to New York City with Virgin Australia
Legal services provided by K&L Gates
Harper’s BAZAAR lookbook styling assistance
Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival CEO Graeme Lewsey said he is proud to be a part of a revered award that has provided valuable support for local designers.

“In 1997 the Festival introduced the National Designer Award with the goal of contributing to the future of the Australian fashion and design industry. 20 years on we can proudly say we have supported two decades of Australian designers, assisting in their growth through professional mentoring, providing unsurpassed networking opportunities and financial support.

The finalists announced for the 2016 Tiffany & Co. National Designer Award Supported by Harper’s BAZAAR represent what this Award stands for through design innovation and creativity,” said Lewsey.

Glen Schlehuber, Vice President and Managing Director of Tiffany & Co. Oceania expressed his delight to present the National Designer Award as part of the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival again in 2016.

The core Festival program will run from Monday 7 March to Sunday 13 March 2016 and the Festival’s Cultural Program commencing Sunday 13 February 2016, is expected to host nearly 400,000 guests from all parts of the globe at Festival-produced and aligned world-class events that stage the latest in innovative Australian and international fashion and creative design.
