Whether the sun is shining, or the clouds are rolling in, brunch is the best time of day to get a little something to eat. Exploring the vibrant café culture of Bentleigh, we decided to venture into Mama Tierra a modern café with a distinct Greek Influence.

Arriving on a cold rainy day, that didn’t stop the Mama Tierra team from welcoming us with big smiles and a cozy atmosphere. A cross between a modern café and a traditional Greek coffee house Mama Tierra is a perfect blend of delicious food with a Greek twist.

Joined on this adventure, @industrydarling, was excited to try their Greek coffee – in particular the Freddo Cappuccino a slightly sweet coffee served cold. This was met by rave reviews and was already ready for another.

It was now time to indulge in a little food and wanting to get a little of everything we set our sights on the Smashed Avo accompanied with haloumi and a spicy mayo their take on this classic was amazing. Asking for recommendations on what else to have it was suggested that we try the Breakfast Quesadilla, an off-menu item that was a crowd favourite. And we were glad we did it was full of flavour and loaded with bacon, scrambled eggs, chorizo, refried beans topped with tomato salsa, sour cream, avocado and house made chipotle dressing. Already full we couldn’t resist trying their Chicken Souvlaki – how can you go to a Greek influenced café and not try this traditional Greek favourite? And we weren’t disappointed, this was everything you would want warm pita bread, salad, tzatziki and of course perfectly grilled chicken skewers.

Each of these offered a little something different and each was well worth it, Mama Tierra is a great stop in for a bite to eat if you find yourself in the Bentleigh area. But before we left, we spotted a little something in the window that we couldn’t resist… house made Baklava, that’s right house made! This is a definite must regardless of if you go in for breakfast or lunch you should definitely try the Baklava.

While Mama Tierra’s is a Greek café, they create modern takes on classic dishes, which is what makes the experience a little exciting and special. A great place to enjoy delicious food with a little Greek twist.
