Even if you’re not a morning person we can all agree that brunch is one of the best meals of the day and finding new brunch spots to try is half the fun of the weekends! So, let us share the Tradesman Café with you. In the heart of Moorabbin’s business district this café is home to not only some delicious meals but great if you’re looking for that perfect brunch Instagram spot as well.

Why is it so good you ask, apart from there being some great coffee to start your day, the food is expectational as well. We slinked into the Tradesman Café on a Friday morning and it was already in full swing, can’t even imagine the weekends but it’s worth it for sure.

Sitting down, we were asked what we’d like, we said surprise and delight us and that’s just what they did. We feasted on a bunch of their house favourites each plate came out looking like a work of art. Not afraid to use a little colour on their place it really does make it stand out as well as taste amazing.

Here’s what we got.

CORN, SPINACH AND HALOUMI CHEESE FRITTERS with secret sauce, free ranged poached eggs and corn, cucumber, capsicum and coriander salsa

BAKED EGGS with Lentil eggplant sauce, almond dukkah, sumac rolled labne with a toasted baguette

BUTTERMILK WAFFLE mixed berries, cream cheese, strawberry panna cotta, ginger crumble

RUBEN SANDWICH of pastrami, American cheese, sauerkraut, 1000 island dressing, served on grain bread.

To say these dishes looked amazing is an understatement but let’s talk about how they tasted.

The Fitters where amazing, teamed with the runny poached eggs and their secret sauce this dish really comes together to create a great tasting fritter combination. Baked Eggs again is that perfect thing to start the day even if you’re not a vegetarian dipping in the crunchy toasted baguette makes this a real treat to eat and when you when you find those little sumac rolled labne (rolled yoghurt), A M A Z I N G. Now let’s talk Buttermilk Waffles, so many flavours coming together that just work so well together – the waffles are crispy and soft at the same time and if you let the panna cotta melt a little it really soaks into the waffles to make them better.

And if you find that you want a little something from the lunch menu, we had the good fortune of trying the Ruben, we didn’t get chips because you know we didn’t want to over eat. There is a little sub-culture of ruben eaters amongst the Melbourne food community, you know who you are – this is a worthy contender. We would have loved some more pastrami in there, that’s just us, but still so good.

The Tradesman Café is great for sharing on your socials, but you won’t want to share your food, it’s that good. It brings together your brunch and lunch favourites with their own little twist. You might want to head to The Tradesman Café for the Instagram worthy food but what you’ll come back for is the food, we’re already planning our next visit!
