At the heart of Williamstown, you will find yourself at Nelson Place, venture down and you will find yourself at Porters. Cafe by day and intimate dining by night, Porters is the place to go for a unique take on classic Australian cuisine. Opened in 2018, the Porters family were inspired by Australia’s rich culture and continue to celebrate this through their menu.

Taking a moment to enjoy the atmosphere of the softly lit venue, and spaced-out seating, this venue is the perfect place for an intimate dinner experience or a night out with friends. The menu was full of Australian favourites with a modern twist that had us eager to dive-in and try it all. Wanting to take in the full dining experience that Porters had to offer, we enjoyed favourites from the entrees, mains and desserts!

What did our menu look like?

To Start

Charcuterie board with a selection of sliced meats, pork terrine, whipped nduja, marinated olives, pickles, sesame lavosh.

Garlic and oregano prawns, haloumi, red pepper & chilli emulsion. Immaculate flavour

A Little More

Orange and ricotta stuffed zucchini flowers, saffron pilaf, spice rubbed vegetables

Confit pork belly, cauliflower skordalia, caramelised fennel, crackling, red wine jus

Crispy skin duck breast, potato mille feuille, honey glazed vegetables, orange & ginger gel.

To Finish

Beetroot chocolate brownie, blood orange ice cream, mascarpone

Rosewater custard, rhubarb compote, oat crumble, fairy floss

We took our time to work through the menu, each plate of food offered a new tasting experience, savoring each bite. Porters have taken classic Australian favourites added their own unique twist and flavours to it, to create a menu that is worth the trip to Williamstown.

The standouts for us were the Confit Pork Belly and Crispy Skin Duck Breast, with each dish melting in our mouths and taking our taste buds on an adventure. The duck had a crispy skin and was paired perfectly with the honey glazed vegetables, whilst the pork belly was cooked to perfection and delivered delicious flavour with every mouthful.

We were not sorry about ordering ourselves a little dessert, especially when they have combined two Australian favourites – chocolate and beetroot – to create a mouthwatering brownie, paired with blood orange ice cream that compliments the two flavours perfectly. If you’re looking for something a little lighter to enjoy, we highly recommend the Rosewater Custard. The rosewater creates a refreshing twist on yet another classic dessert.

To put it simply, Porters is a place to take your time and enjoy not only the food but also the atmosphere. Our advice, spend the day by the water and then make your way over to Porters to finish the night with an intimate dining experience that you will surely not forget.
