In the quite back streets of Prahran you’ll find Crooked Letters a humble little bagel and coffee shop serving up simple, delicious bagel creations that will keeping you coming back for more! Team that with killer coffee, shakes and a pastry or two and you cannot go wrong.
While we headed in mid-morning, there was already an abundance of people making their way in waiting for their coffee and bagel. So, getting a table can be a little hard as its not a big place but a lot of people are on the go so the turnaround is still pretty quick.
But we were happy to laze around for a while and enjoyed a good people watching session while we munched away.
What’s all the fuss about then, that’s just it, there is no fuss here. Crooked Letters is all about great bagels with tasty fillings and with so many to choose from it was hard to narrow it down to just two. In the end we went a little overboard and indulge in four scrumptious choices. Team that with a coffee and a chocolate shake… we were set!
What did we indulge on you ask?
Bacon, egg, swiss cheese, smoky BBQ relish
Smoked salmon, cream cheese, red onion, capers
(Classic and Still A Favourite!)
Halloumi, bitter green leaves, chilli jam
Pastrami, sauerkraut, swiss cheese, pickle, Russian mustard
We were not disappointed, loving a classic our favourite was the Salmon but coming in a close second was Halloumi both had a great taste, and everything was fresh. The bagels themselves we soft with just the right amount of firmness to them.
With so much choice, it’s just another reason to go back again but if you’re like us you’ll be sure to find your favourite along the way that you just can’t go past. Our suggestion, get two, one that you love and then something new to try… everyone wins!
And don’t worry if you don’t find yourself in the Prahran back streets often, these bagels are worth the drive but thankfully Crooked Letters have a few locations around town. You can find these bagels in Mt Waverley, Prahran and Notting Hill!
What are you waiting for, make your way to Crooked Letters and let us know what your favourite is?
