We often speak of hot spots around town where all the new and happening places are popping up. But those places aren’t always where you think they might be, one such place is MODU in the heart of suburban Clayton. A recently opened Chinese restaurant that is steeped in tradition and flavour!
Walking in, you are transported away from the hustle of the busy street around you and taken to a beautifully crafted restaurant that seems somewhat out of place in Clayton, but in our opinion is a sign of things to come.
Welcomed by a trendy, stone interior, fitting the vibe of Melbourne food culture where the atmosphere is as important as the food. Seated in a booth, you are made to feel like you’re the only one in the place. And with an attentive staff and extensive menu, the only real question was what to order.
With a variable feast on order, we chatted amongst ourselves for what only seemed like a few minutes before food was served to us. From the Xiao Long Boa, Pork Spare Ribs in Sweet Vinegar to the Stir-Fried Scotch Fillet with Black Garlic. Each bringing new depth and flavour to each dish. Accompanied by Peking Duck Pancakes, Wontons in Chilli Oil and Signature Fried Rice. We can only describe it as satisfied. And for anyone who has eaten out, you know that feeling satisfied after a good meal is an amazing feeling!
But what meal is complete without a little something sweet, or in this case a house made Chocolate Ball filled with ice cream, berries and whipped cream.
MODU represents the start of something new for the Clayton area, refined dining and great food. Just another reason why you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover and sometimes taking a drive out of the city can make all the different between a night out and a truly satisfying meal!
