Melbourne is home to a plethora of amazing restaurants and cuisines for any foodie to get lost in, so when we recently visited Ryne, in Fitzroy North we took a second to appreciate what we were fortunate enough to be enjoying. Helmed by industry heavy weight Donavon Cooke, Ryne is his latest offering in a distinguished career. Opened in 2017, to rave reviews, Cooke is continuing his stride in producing amazing menus to indulge in.
Settling in on a Sunday evening, Ryne is bustling with people and energy alike, spaciously set out you won’t find yourself bumping shoulders with other diners – rather you are given space which makes you feel like you are dining on your own even amongst the sixty seat establishment.
Whether you want to go back to favourites or delve into a tasting
menu, you are spoilt for choice. We opted to indulge a little and chose the 6 Course
Tasting Menu and to say it up front, we were not disappointed in any way.
Grilled Marinated Octopus asparagus, romesco, black garlic, rocket sorbet
There is something to be said about classical French cooking but its
only as good as the people behind it. Cooke and his team are not pulling any
punches, and after so many years cooking, Cooke is still refining his craft and
creating bold flavours and new experiences with this food and this menu was no
Ryne a modern French restaurant in which Cooke has curated an exquisite menu implementing classical French cooking techniques, with modern interpretations – the result, a unique and exceptional experience only made better by impeccable service. Ryne has all the elements you expect from a fine dining restaurant and that little something more that will make you want to come back again and again.
